PostSubject: Report: Ray Lewis expected to play Sunday for Ravens   Sat Dec 22, 2012 7:46 am

Last week, the Baltimore Ravens opted to hold Ray Lewis out of another week of game action. This week could be a different story.

Team sources told The Baltimore Sun the Ravens expect the 13-time Pro Bowl linebacker to try to play in Sunday's pivotal matchup against the New York Giants. The Ravens have until Saturday at 4 p.m. ET to add Lewis to the 53-man roster. The team won't have a final decision until Saturday afternoon.

Lewis, 38, has been sidelined since Week 7 with torn triceps, but he has been practicing with the team for the last three weeks. He is on injured reserve under the designated-to-return tag.

On Friday, Ravens coach John Harbaugh opted to reveal little on Lewis' status, saying only that he's "coming along."

Lewis no longer is an elite player, but the Ravens -- losers of three in a row -- certainly could use the shot in the arm that would come with the return of their emotional leader. The team is 4-4 without Lewis this season and 21-20 in games he has missed during his 17-year NFL career.
