Gay, Cockrell, Burns, Davis, and Lewis?

I'll take that over last years Blake horror show, Allen's meltdown, and Boykin's no show drama. Last years backfield was a mess, with Bell out also, its a wonder we made it to the second round.

I hope he's healthy and signs. Lewis claims the Saints let him go because of a bad relationship with a coach, but Payton said it was his injury history. I'd love to see Lewis back and full health in Pittsburgh, it's not as if he's a premiere corner, but a player with past experience/success with this defense and the franchise. I'll take it, so long as he's healthy.

Lewis is 30 and has had some injuries during his stint with the Saints. He didn't play in 10 games last year and didn't participate in any of the offseason activities for the Saints. Not saying the Steelers won't pick him up, but I suspect this is a kick-the-tires type look by Tomlin/Colbert. Maybe pay him a Boykin salary and if something better becomes available, trade up???

Lewis Reportedly Remains Out with Injury
Wednesday, Aug. 24

A former teammate said Lewis told him he is out another six weeks, per Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

so even if signed he'd miss september ?

Damn. I was hoping he was in decent shape. Another solid CB would help our defense tremendously.

The Saints concluding Lewis could not help their abysmal defense led me to assume he is done

Lack of discretion on medical information could hurt Steelers

Posted by Mike Florio on August 25, 2016

For the second time in less than a year, the Steelers have been linked to leaking negative information about the health of a player. Some who work for other teams are wondering whether this will make players think twice for trusting the Steelers with their medical data.

In June, a report emerged that cornerback Brandon Boykin has a career-threatening hip injury. Now, after free-agent cornerback Keenan Lewis visited the team about a potential return, a report has emerged that the Steelers are concerned about his hip.

Whatever the objective in leaking such information (perhaps the team wants the fans to understand why players are being signed), such information can hurt a player. Literally.

“The people that play this game want to know if someone is injured,” one league source said. “If they are true competitors they are going to try and exploit that injury.”

It’s a good point, and if this dynamic suggests a trend, players may want to think twice about letting the Steelers have access to information about their overall health.

Players might want to think twice about trying to dupe teams into signing them when they have serious injuries. Also when have the Steelers been proven to be the ones leaking the information? Seems to me like a bunch of pundits and talking heads just make things up and somehow that's getting blamed on the team. Even if the team comments on an injury, so long as they're not going into details about the injury, they're not doing anything wrong.
