Podcast I did on the topic here. Please bear with me, first podcast I've ever done, and I did it all without scripting anything beforehand. To sum it up, basically a pass was thrown into the endzone, Brown thought there should've been a flag so he went off on the referee (Terry Brown) about it. The official didn't take kindly to the profanity laced tirade and publicly stated that Brown could get away with it at their practice, but that if it were a game he would have to think again.

My thoughts in the podcast. Article about the incident here:

hey, what's up Iowa...

I really enjoyed listening to your podcast, for someone who has never done one before I thought you did an outstanding job. I found myself both agreeing and disagreeing with some of the points you were making, but that means you did your job because a podcast should elicit that type of a response from its listeners.

I definitely look forward to your next podcast, I strongly encourage you to do more of them!

Thanks brother I greatly appreciate it! I'll definitely look into doing some more and I'll work to make them better in the future!

Curious though, what'd you disagree with and why? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the situation as well. Joe from SCU kind of spurred me into doing my own podcast on it because he had his own opinion on the situation that differed from my own, so I thought it'd be an interesting topic to discuss.

the main part I disagreed with is the part about how the referee should do his job. the referee may have missed the call, but I believe in my heart that all referees fully try to do their job as best as possible. just because AB didn't like the call does not give him the right to publicly berate that official, if i was that referee I wouldn't take that kind of crap from a player either.

I agree on that, AB does need to be more tactful. I was only speaking against the referee if what AB was accusing him of had any truth to it (that he was there eating a free lunch, and hadn't thrown a flag all day).

My guess is AB let his frustration get the best of him, and he took it out on the ref. Perhaps the ref deserved a little ribbing, but nobody deserves to be nailed with a profanity-laced tirade either.

Can't wait to hear the podcast later! AB should just smile and walk away ... kinda like Hines used to do. Flash that million dollar smile and go back for the next play. Getting on this guy's bad side doesn't help AB one bit. Who's to say this ref doesn't withhold defensive holding or pass interference calls during the regular season now that Brown trashed him? Or in the playoffs or Super Bowl.

I disagree with Brinson that this will motivate Brown to score more TDs. Brown can't be more motivated to score TDs .... a personal disagreement with a ref during a preseason joint practice isn't going to send him into beast mode. This can only hurt him. Put it all in perspective Antonio. You can watch the practice tape and know if you were in and mutter to yourself. Calling that guy out only makes someone who can make your job more difficult hold a grudge.  Drop the diva routine.

I'll have to dream up some more topics to discuss. I kind of like podcasting, much easier than editing and putting together videos!

Yeah I must admit, Brown has started to venture off more and more into diva territory. I wonder if the super-stardom status he's been given due to his performance over the last few seasons has gone to his head a little bit. I mean I understand jawing at the refs a little bit when you disagree with something, but losing your cool and going off on a profanity-laced tirade is a little bit overboard. Even if what he accused that official of, is the truth.

Brown is a relentless competitive person, having that competitiveness is why he is the player he is today.

So me personally, I really don't have an issue, did he go a little far? yea maybe. But from someone who has watched the likes of players like Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant(two of the most competitive players I've ever seen), he's done noting.

Great job, Iowa.

I thought it turned out well, especially considering it was unscripted. I look forward to hearing more.

If it's unscripted, that's good! IMO, improv is always better than scripts!

The audio quality was clear, and we can understand what you're saying: that's saying more than what A LOT of the "big guys" are doing!

Sent you a Facebook message Iowa, make sure you check it out.

LOL and thanks for the mention as well... as a referee I do sympathize, but I'm not sure the referee really went "public" so much as the practices are in front of the "public" and the referee was overheard talking with someone (or it was that much of a loud display.)

Referee should know better in that situation to not be within earshot of people who can upload a video within seconds as well. That's a huge no-no.
