who's scouting the Eagles tonight?

Have to say I had it in mind. Offensively, their line was doing a good job on the run game and keeping Wentz upright. Philly WR's aren't that formidable and Wentz is throwing shorter passes and getting the football out quickly. Big game needed from stopping the run and making Wentz throw the football IMO.

Defensively, their pass rush is good, but I think our OT's can dominate their DE's in the run game. The Eagles secondary isn't great, other than Jenkins. The Eagle LB's are quick and can cover, so pound the rock and protect Ben should mean a 30 point offensive game. Williams goes for 100 yds again and Ben throws for 300+.

Pittsburgh has to get pressure on the young QB and force mistakes.

We need to get DW running well and make sure we hit em with the pass. I know it was super rainy against Cinci so it warranted the run but we gotta get the ball in the air more. I'd like to see a HB screen or DW catching some things out of the backfield.

I just looked at the head to head record, and the no wins @Philly stat since 1960 is a little skewed. The last time we played at philadelphia, willie parker and mewelde moore were our RB's, and the o-line was the terrible one that got Ben sacked 8 times.

The last time before that we played at philly, Kordell Stewart was the QB. Not saying philly isn't a tough place to play, but part of the reason for the no wins there, was we also only played there 8 times during that stretch

Our starting o-line was trash in 08. Didn't Ben get sacked like 56 times that year or something ridiculous like that? And with a battered o-line and Philly sending jailhouse blitzes every other down, Arians kept calling 7 step drops. No freakin' wonder. I'd say our offensive line is leagues ahead of the 08 squad. Yes we won the SB that year, but even then, I held my breath every time Ben dropped back to pass, it was THAT bad.

not so much pressure on Wentz,

Steelers offense time consuming scoring drives and keep the Philly offense off the field

shut down Philly running game

make Wentz work the ball down field

make his passing windows small

make Wentz hold on to the ball a little longer then dial up some timely blitzes.

just imho.

Couldn't blame him for thinking about that. He was totally crushed in that game. I was surprise he was not injured.

Now time to make Wentz wonder if he did the right thing coming in to the NFL!

Ben is the best Steelers QB ever, but there were at least 36 million reasons in 2008 why Ben's "retirement" story fits with his tendency to exaggerate

The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger have agreed to a new eight-year, $102 million contract.

The contract, which includes more than $36 million in guarantees and is easily the largest in team history, places Roethlisberger among the game's highest-paid players.

Ben said he had a moment, while in pain, when he asked whether it was worth it. He never said, that I've seen, he considered retirement. That's an interpretation of the quote.

I never considered retiring either but I have moments (at least weekly) when I question whether it's worth it.

John Elway thought about leaving the NFL after his first game, something along the lines of seeing some crazy guy without teeth (lambert), and he was like oh god, maybe selling insurance won't be so bad afterall

1965, etc., etc., and this is just one more reason why we need this victory tomorrow!
