The NFL Network interviewed rugby star Jordan Mailata. He says he's heading to Pittsburgh for an interview with the Steelers today. The Australian is viewed as a potential tackle.

Mailata is 6-foot-8 and 346 pounds. He was able to participate in the Pro Day at the University of Florida.

The Steelers have done a good job of developing Alejandro Villanueva into a quality NFL tackle even though he didn't play the position in college. They've also done well finding quality linemen via free agency instead of the draft lately.

Villanueva qualifies. So do BJ Finney, and Chris Hubbard, and Ramon Foster.

Hubbard's departure to Cleveland in free agency may be exacerbating the Steelers' interest in Mailata.

1 year minimum deal let Munch coach him up and see what he has. Would be awesome to snag another diamond in the rough.

6' 8" 345 lbs. right tackle. I like it. looking at his picture looks to be in great shape for 345 lbs.

Can't hurt to take a look at the guy. Could be had on the cheap, and might even pan out like Villanueva did.

Steelers sign three to roster

The Steelers added depth to their offensive line.

The Steelers added depth with the signing of three offensive linemen - tackles Joseph Cheek and Larson Graham and center Parker Collins. The free agents were all signed to one-year contracts.

Cheek came into the NFL as an undrafted rookie who signed with the New Orleans Saints after the 2016 NFL Draft. He was released by the Saints prior to the start of the 2016 season, and quickly signed to the Houston Texans practice squad, where he spent a little over a month. He was then signed to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad, where he spent the remainder of the 2016 season and the 2017 season. Cheek started two seasons at guard at Texas A&M, following in the footsteps of his father who was a tackle for the Aggies in the 1980s.

Worth a look. If Munch can't coach him up, no one can.
