PostSubject: Changes To Tackle Rules   Sun Aug 19, 2018 2:52 pm

I made a thread for this. I think there is going to be major issues with this during the year, both from calls and non calls.

Richard Sherman is not happy. https://twitter.com/RSherman_25/status/1031205147261657088?s=20

This helmet rule thing has been ridiculous in the preseason, I think it's been a feeling out experience for the officiating crews and my thinking is that they'll get it cleaned up when the regular season starts.

Didn't the Seahawks do something like that? I would be on board with the Steelers working on good form tackling. Less of the stupid penalties for big hits.

Was listening to the Tunch and Wolfe show yesterday. Had an interview with the great Donnie Shell. Here are his thoughts on the new tackle rules:

  • He likes the rule, as he feels like it is safer to play.
  • He feels, if he was playing today, he would be fined heavily for his style of play. He does feel he would be able to adjust though.
  • He feels proper tackling isn't being taught. Coach Noll had them working on proper tackling technique every practice.
  • He also feels players need to watch out of each other even if it means not taking a big hit.
  • On a personal note, he has been busy with the Donnie Shell Scholarship Foundation and his Ministry duties.
