Looking at Jeremy Fowler's final roster and season prediction at ESPN. He picks a final record of 11-5. He does have us beating the Pats* but I think more likely for 13-3 this year. In particular I think they beat Bucs and Broncos. He has Steelers beating Browns and Bengals both times and splitting with Ravens which usually how that one goes. I think Browns likely play first game like a Super Bowl and think there will plenty of 'experts' picking them to win this coming week.

What is your season record prediction?

I think we not only sweep the north, we also win in Tampa so I'm saying 13-3.

The legend of Pimply Dan has traveled through many black and gold realms. Many may know of the sage message in one of its many forms it has taken over the years, but not of the legend from which it was born. Old timers like myself were around when the legend sprang to life on the long gone steelers.com message board. At least a few times a season, Pimply Dan's battle cry will rise from the ashes and bring hope to a new generation. Long live Pimply Dan. Heroes die ... but legends live forever.

Steelers have an uncanny knack for losing 1 of their first 3 games. Here's how the past 4 seasons have started ...

2017: 2-1
2016: 2-1
2015: 2-1
2014: 2-1

So my bold prediction is that they lose 1 of the first 3 games and start off 2-1. 2018 Record Predicition 3121608646

Halfway point of season, 5-2-1 record and 1st place, how do you see the remaining games?

Quote :
Nov. 8 vs. Panthers
Nov. 18 at Jaguars
Nov. 25 at Broncos
Dec. 2 vs. Chargers
Dec. 9 at Raiders
Dec. 16 vs. Patriots**
Dec. 23 at Saints
Dec. 30 vs. Bengals

Saints likely a loss. i think Jaguars, Broncos, Raiders, Bengals are wins, Chargers at home should be. I'd like to think we spilt Carolina/Pats* at home to give us 6-2 for rest of season. I really feel like at some point they are going to solve the Pats*. At this point I think the players want it as bad as the fans. It almost, and should have, happened last December maybe this is the year.

I agree with you for the most part. For me it's a loss to the Saints and Patriots* and a 50-50 game against the Panthers. All other games I believe we will win, so either 6-2 or 5-3 depending on Thursday's outcome.

The Panthers, Broncos, Chargers, Pats**, and Saints all worry me. Broncos is at Mile High so that game is never a gimme. They still have a pretty decent defense, and their offense is at least competent.

The Chargers look better to me this year than they have the past 4-5 years. Their offense is moving the ball and is balanced, and their defense is pretty decent despite the fact they've been missing Joey Bosa. The Pats** are the Pats**, they seem to always have our number. The Saints are just scary offensively. Their defense can be beat, but that offense is right up there with the Chiefs. So many threats in both the passing game, and in their running game. Plus it's in the Superdome, so I don't like our chances to win that game at all.

I think we could hit 11-12 wins if everything is perfect and we don't make mistakes from here on out. Realistically though I'm kind of feeling like we're going to be 10-5-1 by the end of the season.

It's a little early for this but it's interesting to see how far they've come after the start they had this year.

NFL playoff picture: AFC, NFC seeds through Week 10

Quote :
2. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have rendered the Le'Veon Bell storyline nearly moot. They've now won five consecutive games, most recently putting up 52 points on the Carolina Panthers, and have scored at least 30 points in five of their nine games. Bell can't play this season if he doesn't report this week, and it's worth noting that the Steelers' schedule is about to get difficult. They have conference games upcoming against the Patriots* and Los Angeles Chargers, as well as a Week 16 trip to New Orleans. Overall, ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) rated their remaining strength of schedule as the fifth-most difficult in the NFL.

My original prediction was off. I really thought 13-3 before the season.

5 games left:

Quote :
Dec. 2 vs. Chargers
Dec. 9 at Raiders
Dec. 16 vs. Patriots****
Dec. 23 at Saints
Dec. 30 vs. Bengals

I think 3-2 likely from this point with Chargers win plus Raiders and Bengals. I want to think that they can change the tide and beat the Pats*, they are due, they are capable, but they've been both before. I don't think Saints is going to happen. Ben would need to match Brees' perfection and likely comes a play or 2 short. All that being said the way things generally go they beat the Saints and lose to Raiders...

as long as the Steelers win enough games to win the tie breakers with in the division to make it to the playoffs and the new 0 - 0 start to the playoff season.

The next 5 games will be a playoff run for the Steelers. With the exception of the Raiders, the others are playoff caliber teams and will show us if this team is ready to make a run towards the Super Bowl.

We all know they're capable of it, we saw it on the Thursday night game vs the Panthers. Unfortunately, the last two games as well as games earlier in the season have shown us the ugly side of this team.

The push, not just for playoffs but also for a BYE week start this Sunday.

Going to be interesting. If they can beat the Chargers, Raiders, and Patriots* I'll buy in that this team is ready to play for a championship. If they do that and beat the Saints as well... well I'll really have some faith. If they get beat by LA, or New England again though, I think it's just going to show that we still have too many holes on this team, particularly on the defensive side.

Really that's the weakest link on this team, the defense is playing great at times, but they aren't turning the ball over and that's what great defenses do. They need to be way more consistent defensively if they think they're going to beat any of the other AFC contenders and compete for a Super Bowl. The Broncos game really showed how little depth we still have on our defensive line. Walton, and Alualu aren't very good, and our defense has struggled without Stephon Tuitt. We have to be healthy, to stay successful defensively.

2018 Steelers defense, well you got the play who you have but my prediction is for the 2019 off season and how the front office might fix the defense.

the Steelers offensive backfield get a lot younger with Dodds or Rudolph as the starting QB going forward with the salary cap savings of Ben's and Bell's contracts the front office invest that money into the LBs and the defensive backfield.

imo the Steelers defense isn't very far from being very good so this coming off season they could have a lot of salary cap money and the draft for some big time up grades for the defense.
