| Remember Limas Sweed and how fast he got put in Tomlins dog house never to return and basically vanish from the team and the NFL? Moncrief had more drops in one game then Sweed had during his entire tenure with the Steelers.
My issue is Moncrief was on the field for 90% of the offensive snaps while Washington 52% of the snaps. Wtf? WTF??? WTF??? WTF???
Tomlin and Fitchner better come up with something better or its going to be a really long season.

| Blows my mind that Washington plays as solid as he did in the preseason and they go and put Moncrief ahead of him on the roster. What harm is there in Moncrief being #3 instead of #2? This decision is about as mind boggling as keeping Jordan Berry. This team does a lot of things right but then does a couple things that make you go "Come on, I can call this shit from my living room!" _________________ Stuck in a SE Ohio Tech. school with a bunch of high schoolers. | |

| I know I don't understand it either. How many times do we see a player (especially QBs) have one good year and cash in with a new team? What you don't see is a guy who had a good season 3 or 4 years ago move ahead on the depth chart of a guy who is obvious better than him. While other coaches are vying for coach of the year award Tomlin seems to running for idiot of the year. | |

| Moncrief will be o.k., he just stunk it up like the rest of his team. I ranted about the finger excuse, but he'll be good going forward.
Got to admit, the thread title is funny stuff!

Got to admit, the thread title is funny stuff! Obviously, I hope you're right, but I have to disagree. If Monsweed had looked good in camp and preseason but just had a bad game, it wouldn't be a big deal. But we were complaining about him in the preseason games and questioning why Washington wasn't ahead of him. I hope he proves us wrong, but so far, in 4 preseason games and 1 regular season game, I haven't seen a single thing from him that makes me think he'll be a solid No. 2 receiver for us. Just for fun, I just checked out a thread on a Colts forum that was created after he went to the Jags. We should take what fans say with a grain of salt because there's likely to be some bitterness when a player leaves, but I'm seeing the exact same things they saw. Here's a sampling of what they were saying ... - Quote :
- He kind of had that Garçon syndrome where he would make the really tough play, and totally blow some easy ones. And yeah, the injuries were a thing.
- Quote :
- Yeah he's got all the physical tools, but none of the rest of what you need to be a good WR. He hasn't done much there either.
- Quote :
- The problem with Moncrief is he couldn't stay healthy and be game in game out dependable. I had no problem moving on from him, although his "potential" remains intriguing.
- Quote :
- I just always felt he played soft.
- Quote :
- I do remember, however, in the 2nd game of the season last year and Moncrief was jogging the route and didn't even make an attempt at a pass that was thrown right to him. It would have been a huge gain
- Quote :
- I felt he caught to many passes with the body and not the hands. Yeah, soft might well describe Moncrief.
- Quote :
- Way too inconsistent
- Quote :
- Moncrief was lazy. He ran lazy routes, he quit on passes that he could have showed a true playmaking ability on, he was reportedly a bad locker room influence. There is no question his upside as a player, but with his attitude, we are likely never going to see it. We didn't here, they aren't currently in Jacksonville...
- Quote :
- I had high hopes for him, because he would've been the perfect compliment to Hilton. I really thought he was gonna be great after he caught 7 TDs during an injury plagued season, but he never capitalized on that. Lazy routes, low effort on routine plays, very inconsistent. He's Just Another Guy, perfect player for the Jags.

| James Washington has shown more consistency and playmaking ability so far and there's really no reason he shouldn't be the #2 receiver. Moncrief got hurt, which sucks, but he's been given ample opportunity to prove himself and has done nothing with it. He was historically awful against the Patriots* dropping the easiest of catches and stalling out drives. The one that stood out to me in particular was a dropped ball on 3rd Down that stalled out a promising drive in a game where promising drives were a rarity for our offense. I had high hopes for Moncrief, and he may very well turn things around, but from everything I've seen so far throughout the preseason, and after game 1 of the regular season, I think Washington deserves the job. _________________ "If I could start my life all over again, I would be a professional football player, and you damn well better believe I would be a Pittsburgh Steeler." - Jack Lambert RIP to the late great B.B. | Moncrief came in at the time where Washington was a ? AB was gone and I think it was a panic move. Now that it's obvious that Washington has taken the step forward he is a better option than Moncrief. Tomlin and Fichtner have to know this. How can they miss it? If they continue down this path with Moncrief I won't blame Washington for wanting to jump ship when his rookie deal is up if Tomlin is still the coach. We seem to be one of the few teams they pay players for potential instead of production. | |

| Washington is obviously better than Moncrief. Blows my mind that he isn't the clear-cut #2 and out there playing every down. I actually don't think Moncrief should've even made the roster. | |

| He's in his 6th season and his career receiving stats are pedestrian at best. He's played in 70 games and has 203 receptions for 2550 yards.

Even with the panic button pushed when AB left why would anyone think we needed this guy?

| I guess Moncrief's contract is front loaded and won't be back next year to bad Ben couldn't hit open Washington when targeted in last weeks game. _________________ coach she's to big and strong we can't stop her. coach "hit her in the dick" | |

| Take into consideration hes never really had a good QB throwing him the ball. He goes from Blake Bortles to Ben, might take a little time | |

You either have it or you don't. He doesn't. He had Luck for 4 years and even then he was below average.4 years in Indy he was targeted 257 and caught 152 for 1875 Yds and 18 TDs.Not exactly a barn burner. 1 20 4 yrs IND 53 27 257 152 1875 12.3 18 79 2.9 35.4 59.1% 7.3 5 16 0 7 3.2 0.3 0.1 157 12.0 1891 18 0 16 1 yr JAX 16 14 89 48 668 13.9 3 80 3.0 41.8 53.9% 7.5 48 13.9 668 3 1 4 1 yr PIT 2 2 11 3 7 2.3 0 3 1.5 3.5 27.3% 0.6 3 2.3 7 0 0

| From the looks of it, Eli Rogers showed up at the team facilities. No interest by the team to re-sign.

and i new i was right ... ... i bitched and moaned here when i heard they signed him. then i bitched some more when they drafted johnson. not because i had anything against johnson, but i thought with the moncrief signing with a starter contract , a different position should be the priority. i wanted winovich and dupree gone. as usual they never listen to me ..

https://twitter.com/MarkKaboly/status/1173663006376583168?s=19 i wasnt a fan of rodgers and thought he was a waste of a roster spot and a deterrent from finding someone with a higher ceiling, but compared to the 6 million dollar (a year) man , id rather have a much cheaper rodgers.
