I guess there's a possibility of a Watson for Tua blockbuster happening. Man id really love Watson in Pittsburgh but I think our front office is too dumb
May just be unreachable for us. But I'd love to have Watson. I wonder if they'd take Dupree and Ju Ju for him. Then we can revamp the line in the draft.

Idk i mean if they would take Tua for him whos an unknown right now plus compensation, id think we would be able to put together a deal. Only problem is he has a no trade clause so would he come to Pitt?

Yeah that's not going to happen my friend. Even if they did seriously want Watson there's no way they're going to be able to afford him and Dupree is a FA, and so is Juju so they can't be traded.

i just dont see this team with Ben being any better next year than this year. not saying it will be better without , just saying i dont think there is an advantage to keeping him around. all it does is set you back a year for the rebuild mode. it's time to start auditioning younger guys. if that requires a year or two of a guy like jamies winston then so be it. they need to invest heavily in both lines this year in the draft. the first 5 picks should be spent on the lines. 3 new oline and 2 new dline. they need a space eating fat guy, ala hampton , back in the mix to keep the linebackers clean. Bmore and the browns have built teams to run the ball so pittsburgh needs to build a package dedicated to counter the run. that needs to include a dedicated 2 down run stuffing fat NT. fortunately there will be a few of just such players in this draft.

Definitely won't happen given a new GM in Houston, who won't trade a star QB, who is still on a very cheap rookie contract. Now their old GM who knew how to take the losing end of a deal would have been a different story

I see Mac Jones declared. Thoughts on picking him?

If the Steelers believe he's a franchise QB, then they should go get him (assuming Ben retires). I wouldn't draft another QB until Ben walks out the door. I like Jones, but wonder if he played on such a dominate team that anyone would look great in that system.

pssst ...we just dont tell em they're free agents and trade em any way.
Are you secretly a democrat?

Funny stuff, guys!
Yeah I started it with the idea of trading two free agents. Duh. I'll take the hit for that.
I see Ben and Pouncey retiring. Fichtner is gone, I think that's a sign.
We're going to lose a lot of players to free agency. Hope we keep the young talented ones. . Yes to rebuilding the line and Yes to getting the next Big Snack. No to Trask, no to Jones. Jones will bust out. He's got the most talented team in the country around him. Its like throwing the ball over the 5 year old's head. Anyone can do it (I know that's exaggeration but...)
Tua is struggling with Miami. Tells you something. Is Mac more talented than Tua? Doubtful.
I think we work the rebuild, if Ben retires and that really special QB is in our reach, fine, but don't reach for these guys that I mentioned. Build up, start Mason, build a real running game, see what happens. If we flop we draft high and then get our QB. Even though next year's class isn't supposed to be that good, we all know that can change, too. Also, Mason might surprise us.
My 1.5 cents.

For all the flack Tomlin is getting (and rightfully so) about his play-off record, the same can be said about Ben. His complete play-off stats: 13-9 record (ok, not great), 63,04% completion rate (good), 34-28 TD/INT (yikes), 86.4 QB rating (yikes), 3 rushing TD's and 3 lost fumbles. For a QB of his caliber those are quite awful stats.

all those dominate defenses the Steelers had most of his career then again he played behind some crappy o-lines then again he liked to hold on to the ball and passing up open check down throws. imho those dominate defenses had a lot to do with the wins as Ben did. imho Ben rode those defenses to maybe the HOF.

He wasn't as good in the play-offs as he was in regular season. Of course, the competition in PO is a lot harder so that might be an explanation, but he only played a couple of great games during the PO. Against the Broncos in the AFCCG in 2005, that was really an awesome one. His SB game against the Cardinals was good enough (not great) and against the Ravens in 2010. That's all I can remember. Maybe a couple more against inferior teams, but that's about it.
And again Ben was/is a great QB, we were lucky to have him. But everyone pointing at Tomlin for the PO miscues should also point at Ben imo. In the past decade Tomlin has failed in the PO but so has Ben.

I agree and will say Ben 's PO/SB wins were more because of a supporting cast then his overall efforts. I think Ben's the best QB we ever had and I hate to see him go out this way but as bad as that Browns game was I believe next year with Ben could be an even bigger shit sandwich. My heart says I want to see him go out on his own terms like Jerome but reality is that's not going to happen.

who many time has Ben took a sack and took the team out of field goal range instead of hitting check down guy or thrown it out of bounds? l liked Ben but in the first superbowl it was the defense Ben had a shitty game second superbowl Ben sure tore up that prevent defense.
