Ike Hilliard is interviewing with Detroit for OC job....if he leaves I wonder if Hines would leave the jets and come back.
If he would get the OC job I believe we would fetch 2 or 3 3rd round compensatory picks (new minority rule). I would love that.
nope. not if he takes an OC job. if they made him head coach then yes.
Quote :
NFL owners adopted a resolution on Tuesday that will compensate teams with draft picks for losing minority staff members to head coaching jobs and other premium positions elsewhere.
It’s another attempt by the league to bolster minority hiring for high-level jobs against the backdrop of a lagging record of diversity by its teams.
The gist of the resolution:
• A team that loses a minority assistant coach who becomes a head coach or loses a personnel executive who becomes a general manager will receive third-round compensatory picks in each of the next two drafts.
• A team that loses two minority staffers to head coach and general manager positions would receive three third-round picks.
Given multiple measures instituted in the name of diversity over many years, why will this resolution – approved unanimously by owners, pending approval from the NFL Players Association -- make a difference for a sustained change in the hiring patterns?
The "other premium positions" jumped out at me. Is OC considered a premium position and you can't base your answer on Fitchner.

my interpretation, since coordinators are not mentioned or given an example of compensation is it only applies to HC and GM positions. ..maybe "other" refers to other office positions

Thanks for clearing that up. Maybe we should check it out on CNN so can we can get to the truth of the matter.

Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey has told teammates he is likely retiring after 11 seasons. Barring a change of heart, could be making a decision soon, per sources. — Gerry Dulac (@gerrydulac) January 24, 2021

Heading into the 2021 season, Banner is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent, but from the sounds of it, he doesn’t plan on going anywhere, nor to the Steelers plan on letting him get away. Last week, he posted a simple Tweet, stating that he had the “best exit interview ever”, and that’s it’s time to get “back to work”.

Banner must be a force, too bad he was injured all of last season so we never really got to see what the kid can do. We need some maulers on this o-line. Younger, and more physical.

A lot of questions will need to be answered next year for a lot of guys that are young. If it pans out we stay competitive if it does not we stay mediocre and will have to do a ton of work to recover.

As I recall, Rivera was on a playoff team that year, they went deep into the playoffs and the Steelers decided to hire Tomlin before Rivera was available.

Hoping he does fit the budget. He's started one game and coming off a season long injury. I can't imagine he's going to win the lottery based on those facts. He might work on a 1 year, prove-it deal and then cash in big after the 2021 season. Here's to hoping the Steelers sign him to a longer term deal that is lower value, but still make him some cheddar. I'd love to see Banner and Feiler as the starting tackles. I hope Chuks makes progress because his run blocking was sub-par and that's being kind.

. Hey, he's the first coach in history to make the playoffs with a losing record on two different teams. So there's something. I'm thinking it would be a lot harder to do that in the AFC North though.

i dont think Chuks was quite as bad as decastro was...at least he wiffed blocked for a lot less money ..
From the NFL App: Canada is officially in as OC. The story implies that Canada also wanted to interview for the Miami OC job, so that explains the delay and other interviews.

Yeah, ESPN is calling it as well:
Pittsburgh Steelers promote Matt Canada to offensive coordinator
So let's go ahead and get this out of the way now:

I'm excited about this hire. He has a chance to revive the running game with multiple looks and formations. You see KC do this all the time. Its partly why their offense is so explosive (a big part being Mahomes too, but their formations and multiple looks and creativity are certainly a part of the equation).
