Need to have over in a QB of the future. If Rudolph is not the future. Maybe need to groom either him or someone else in the draft. As also build up the secondary and fill in defense gaps.

#Steelers are signing G/T Joe Haeg, source says. Was with the #Buccaneers last season.
   — Mike Garafolo (@MikeGarafolo) March 20, 2021

Quote :
Drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Haeg spent four seasons in Indy where he started 35 of 55 games. Signing a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the Buccaneers last offseason, Haeg started three games for the Super Bowl champions during the regular season. Most notably, Haeg dropped a touchdown pass in the the second quarter of the Super Bowl last February.

Although listed as a guard and a tackle, it is undetermined at this time where Haeg will fit into the Steelers plans along the offensive line.

At this time, neither of the length of the contract or the amount for Joe Haeg has been reported.

2 teams the steelers should be trying to make a trade with for Nelson...the bronco's and the cowboys. they both are in desperate need for a CB and they both have the cap space. if they could get eithers 3rd round pick i would be happy as a pig rollin in shit ... 2021 - 2022 Offseason Moves - Page 14 1426860608

im still pissed they didnt keep it on the down low. reports of him being released even without a trade likely totally kills chances of a good deal. these assclowns must have never played poker before ...

LB Miles Killebrew agrees to terms with Steelers

It might not be the big signing we saw Friday when wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers but it is something. NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport is reporting the Steelers have agreed to terms with linebacker Miles Killebrew.

Killebrew is a safety/linebacker tweener who has made his impact in the NFL mostly on special teams. If you are looking for a player comparison, think of Marcus Allen. Similar body type and style of player. This addition could mean the end for veteran Jordan Dangerfield who remains unsigned.

This could be a STs upgrade.

Fortunately we got rid of Fichtner, otherwise I would know who we would be throwing to all the time.

I don't disagree that we haven't solved any of the issues, but I don't see us with a top 5 pick.

Considering he did so well holding onto NFL GM employment his opinion doesn't matter a whole lot. JuJu could end up be resigned next year to a longer deal so not sure that's a bad signing. In an article at Post Gazette he talked about that:

JuJu wrote:
“If the cap was there, definitely, I’d see myself being in Pittsburgh for a very long time,” he said of signing just a one-year deal. “So, hopefully next year. We have 12 months to go to work and do what we can do, then I’m a free agent again. If that’s possible, I’ll stay in Pittsburgh four more years.”

I couldn't agree more. Like the J.E.T.S. jets jets jets were tearing up the league while he picked from the top and still couldn't get it right.

Well, the last time the Steelers had a top 5 draft choice they picked ..... Terry Bradshaw. You have to go back to 1970, that's 51 years, that the Steelers have sucked bad enough to be in the top 5. Tannenbaum should do a little studying before making these statements. How many time have the Steelers been considered losers because they don't make splash plays during FA? The answer to that is almost always. Yet every year they're in the mix.

i think his prediction is a bit harsh but i do see em picking in the top 15. the guy is just pointing out that all they have done so far is to at best maintain a not so great status quo in the passing game and done nothing to address their biggest flaw of last season, the running game. he could have even went a step further and mentioned how the defense is going backwards. 2021 - 2022 Offseason Moves - Page 14 2087824411
the only step they have taken to improve the team was shit can Fichtner . i dont envy Canada.
how could anyone genuinely make a positive prediction for next season ? 2021 - 2022 Offseason Moves - Page 14 2829330259

Financial details of Joe Haeg’s two-year contract with the Steelers released

Joe Haeg (Steelers) two years, $4.6M, $1M signing bonus, salaries $1M, $2.1M; $500K 5th day 2022 lg yr roster bonus
   — Aaron Wilson (@AaronWilson_NFL) March 22, 2021

With a $1 million salary for 2021 along with a $1 million signing bonus, Haeg’s salary cap number for 2021 comes in at $1.5 million. After factoring in roster displacement, Haeg adds $840k onto the Steelers 2021 salary cap.

Where things get interesting is in year two for Haeg’s contract as he is due a base salary of $2.1 million as well as a $500k roster bonus. With all things considered, his salary cap number for next season is $3.1 million. Should the Steelers decide to move on after one year, only $500k would be dead money.

A solid signing for a position of need at a bargain price for his versatility and position flexibility. He is good depth with starting experience and a chance at possibly starting if he wows people in camp.

Reading everywhere that Nelson didn't request a trade, but that the Steelers chose between him and Haden to clear cap space. They decided to keep Haden and informed Nelson. They then gave Nelson some time to seek a trade so that he could keep his $8.25M salary. He didn't find a suitor so now the Steelers released him. Terrible decision by the Steelers and can't blame Nelson.
