Tunch Ilkin is stepping away from the broadcast booth so he can continue his fight against ALS.

Ilkin, the former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman and long-time color analyst on radio broadcasts, announced his retirement Thursday in a statement released through the team.

Ilkin, 63, played for the Steelers from 1980-92 and joined the broadcast team in 1998.

he's seen and been a part of a lot of steelers history, wish him better health and enjoy retirement.

ALS is a terrifying disease. Dare I say, it may be worse than cancer.

Enjoy retirement Tunch...I'll miss hearing you on the Steelers Radio Network.
